From Blueprint to Beautiful: Your Cabinet Installation Guide - Hannah

You’re finally doing it. The big remodel, the custom home build, or maybe just that perfect little cabinet addition. Exciting, right? However, between that first sketch and the moment your beautiful new cabinets are installed, there’s a timeline. And at Prestige, we believe in being upfront about it.

Think of our timeline as a two-way street. We are committed to efficient, high-quality work, but the project's speed is heavily influenced by how quickly we receive information from you—the homeowner, contractor, or designer.

Our project manager will send out clear deadlines for design decisions and approvals. As long as we get the green light when we ask for it, we stick to these timelines. If, however, critical information is delayed, we simply can't move forward as planned. It's a team effort! Your Project Timeline: What to Expect: Whole House Transformation

The Goal: Ideally, 12 weeks from our first design meeting to the final install.

Building a large home involves a lot of moving parts (and cabinets!). This timeline accounts for the increased complexity in design and the many decisions needed.

  • Design (6 Weeks): We schedule three in-depth design meetings, spaced about two weeks apart. Key Message: This time is effective only if decisions are consistently made, and any "homework" (like appliance specs or style choices) is completed promptly between meetings.

  • Sign-off to Build Prep (2-4 Weeks): Once designs are finalized and signed off, we use this time to place material orders (wood, hardware, finishes). Lead times on specialized materials are built in here.

  • Material Receipt to Delivery (1-2 Weeks): This is the actual construction phase where our skilled craftsmen build your cabinets and prepare them for delivery and installation.

Kitchen Remodel (or Similar Remodel Item)

The Goal: Ideally, 8-10 weeks from the first design meeting to the install.

Fewer cabinets generally mean a faster pace, but the planning is still crucial.

  • Design (2-4 Weeks): We typically need one to two focused design meetings, spaced two weeks apart.

  • Sign-off to Build Prep (2-4 Weeks): Ordering and receiving necessary materials.

  • Material Receipt to Delivery (Several days to 1 Week): Cabinet construction and delivery to your home.

Small Add-Ons and Single Units

The Goal: Ideally, 5-6 weeks from first design meeting to install.

This applies to items that don't require extensive demo, electrical, or plumbing work.

  • Design (1-2 Weeks): Usually, a single design meeting is sufficient for these smaller projects.

  • Sign-off to Build Prep (2-4 Weeks): Ordering materials.

  • Material Receipt to Delivery (Several days to 1 Week): Cabinet construction and delivery.

-----The X-Factor: Custom and Special Order Items

The Fastest Timeline = Simple Desires and Quick Decisions.

Most custom items, like special sizing or unique configurations, will fall within the timelines above because we engineer them during the initial design phase.

* A Critical Warning about Specialty Items *

Items that need to be specially ordered can sometimes push our timeline. This is completely dependent on the supplier's availability and shipping logistics.

  • Example 1: Hardware. If your preferred handles are on backorder, they might take an extra 8-10 weeks to arrive.

  • Example 2: Highly Custom Materials. A very unique mesh or specialty glass panel could take 4-6 months to source and receive.

Action Item for You:

If you are considering a custom item, please ask us about its availability during the design process! If a custom piece has a long lead time, deciding on it early in the process is essential. We can get it ordered immediately, ensuring it arrives when we need it for your build, helping us stay true to your installation date.

These timelines are directly influenced by the communication of the homeowner/contractor/designer to Prestige. Our project manager will reach out with deadlines to make decisions and get us the answers we need to keep on a good timeline. As long as we are getting the information we need when we ask, we will stick closely to these timelines. (This is a two-way agreement; if by chance we cannot get the information we need on deadlines, we cannot produce the cabinets on our timeline)
